Rhythmic of the sounding space...
PerkImBa is a company directed by Neus Fernández (fierce promoter of the rhythmic Dalcroze in Spain) and Thierry Höchstatter (percussionist of Rudra and composer for Maurice Béjart).
Multidisciplinary, it brings together music and dance, percussion and movement, all with a growing audience in Spain, France, Switzerland and wherever the opportunity rises.
In PerkImBa, the dancers are the musicians and the musicians are in constant movement.
The company constructs a reflexion on the pedagogy and the rhythmic Dalcroze, the percussion as a learning element, the improvisation as a means of free expression, the plasticity and the performance, the different sound spaces and the creativity.
The number of members of the company PerkImBa is variable depending of the project, varying from 5 to 20 dancers. Often, the different collaborating groups come for specific representations and can summon up until 200 dancers-musicians!
Their activities are oriented based on 2 axis of the same importance:
The axis of creation for performances on stage or on the street, or for events in or out a particular context.
On stage, the company takes us in a creation and improvisation, creating a sound space which overflows with energy and vitality. Music and movement merge in shape and colour with a great dose of the sensibility from the dancers and the drums.
The improvisation or spontaneous creation directed live, is a key element of the company’s work.
Inside a particular event with collaborators from all over the world or on stage only with the members of the company, each performance is unique.
Nevertheless, in each case the dose of dynamism, festivity and exchange is the same!
The axis of pedagogy by interventions in various contexts such as “stage” of creation, workshops and master classes aimed at a professional or amateur audience.
In this axis are concerned:
- musicians, dancers, actors and other performing artists professionals or amateurs
- professionals from the art education
- children or adult audience form all over the world
- every person interested in living this rhythmic, sound and gestural explosion.
The objective, making use of the rhythmic Dalcroze practice in relationship with the language of percussion, body, voice and movement, is to live a corporal, musical and spatial experience of collective creation through the rhythm and the movement. The work of the improvisation, dancing-percussion, development of the musical and corporal language’s playful aspect, are some of the pedagogic possible utilities.
Developed around generosity, energy, wisdom and experience form both its two directors, PerkImBa is, first of all, an adventure built on a philosophy of experimentation and risk taking, tolerance, joy of living and smiling. The collective practice of PerkImBa is an occasion for the multidisciplinary and cosmopolite exchange for everyone.
