...few days in Wonderland...
Who never dreamed to be on the Wonderland for a while?! (I feel I went trough that and will come back again and again, in one way or another… but still… same question!)
So we did…
One month working with Spindrift Theatre (wonderful company of theatre, composed by 4 nordic women… to discover, if it’s not already done!) on their new piece, Carroll: Berserkur… an original immersive piece going through the Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland world.
On stage, 7 great actors, 1 musicians, (1 multifunctional technician) and some extras hide in some part of the theatre… backstage, a bunch of great people! All more creative one than this other… Everything that I like… Super collective creation really well guide by the director (and her assistants!), good idea and realisation, great acting, with a fantastic physical construction, nice design of everything, fantastic rehearsal process and training… what’s more could we ask?!… and thanks to the collaboration of the 4 directors, great work of promotion and marketing, great production and organisation, and great visibility in the press (above all for “foreigners”… always so hard here in Iceland!) And fantastic (even though crazy!) use of the theatre, setting up the show in 9 different space around the house… To resume, wonderful production!
And in all of that… there I am, with all this fantastic crew totally confident in my work and my skills (it always surprise me in a way… and of course honoured me so much!). And there I go again, getting each day of rehearsal with them… Form technical director, to external eye, passing by movement assistant, to finish musician (if I can use this word!) and performer substitute (with a record or rehearsing “hours" by the way…)… Definitely, I love challenge, and I begin to see that one of my role on this world is to be multifunctional! (so good to be surrounded by other people like that though… and to not have to do “everything” thanks to the fact that everyone is (almost) as hard-worker as the other ones. "Of course", everything went perfectly, thank to the work of this amazing company and their member… Good confidence, good communication, good work from each part… So nice to work in such conditions… and with so young crew! So young and yet so good and complete artists… Hope I could meet back this people a lot of times in a rehearsal space!!! (hopefully really soon actually… june 2016?! Dracula’s pack is waiting for us!!!)
Finally, a great show!… so original and well-done! Taking the audience trough a travel in the Wonderland world but with this huge part of irony, darkness and critical aspect that are so much appreciated!… Hope you could share it with us somewhere in the world!…
